FROM THE MASH FIELD TO OFFICE GLORY…

April 11th, 2011   By   Filed Under: Brand Champions, Interesting, Weird and Wonderful, Uncategorized

We return to our weekly installment of our top Mashers who after representing us in the field are now displaying their talents at Mash Towers.

Each of our featured Mashers are fantastic evidence of where you can get with hard work, professionalism and no little fun…

Having already featured Seb Haire, who heads up the Digital team in our sister company Dylan. May we introduce to you, our very own Natasha Harden.

i) Why did you like working in the field so much for Mash?

I loved being a Brand Ambassador for Mash. The roles I was offered were always for great brands; and the briefs given by Mash always made you feel passionate about that brand – and therefore the activity. Mash always work on amazing campaigns and you could guarantee to be in an optimistic, hardworking team. Plus everyone in the office were always so friendly, they really made you feel like part of the ‘Mash Family’.

ii) What do you think makes Mash stand out from the rest of the promotional staffing agencies?

From my experience, there is a clear difference between a team of Mashers compared to any other promotional staffing agency I’ve worked for, especially in terms of staff excellence and top organisation. With Mash, you know that everyone is striving towards the objectives of the activity and each person will pull their weight in achieving these. For another agency I worked for, the Event Manager allowed smoking in branded uniform; longer break times for their ‘mates’; and a general lack of care and attention to the activity.

iii) What could Mash do even better?

This is a hard one to answer…I think something that could potentially help both Mashers and Account Handlers is an availability calendar on Moogle. Although you can add an absence, it tends to only be used for holidays, not when working on other jobs etc. It would save Mashers and Account Handlers time calling each other to check if they are free.

iv) “I’m not a politician but if I was………

I would make everyone listen to Glee everyday!

v) “You now know me as a Masher/Dylanite but in another life I’d have been…….”

A princess if I had the choice…but seriously I would love to be a midwife! It’s something I’ve always wanted to be but chose the business route…and very glad I did or else I wouldn’t have ended up working for a great company like Mash!!

vi) “In a nutshell my philosophy is….

‘Dance as if no one were watching; sing as if no one were listening; and live every day as if it were your last’…cheesy but true!

Giving Superman a run for his money

Here at Mash, we pride ourselves on our Mash representatives and are delighted with the latest efforts of recent Masher of the month, Cynthia.

Whilst working on a Virgin Media screening activity, the cinema was evacuated due to a fire in the building. Cynthia’s quick thinking and spontaneous creativity shone through as she held an impromptu quiz for the children. Her excellent initiative and organisational skills meant that all customers were kept safe, calm and spirits high.

The head of Virgin Media Customer Experience happened to be attending the activity and sent in a wonderful commendation for Cynthia. To express their gratitude, they are sending a £50 top shop voucher to Cynthia. Here at Mash, we reward excellence and will be matching this kind offer with a £50 shopping voucher.

Well done Cynthia.

Only the very best will do…

Partnership underlines every element of the Mash Manifesto.

We are so highly thought of because of the emphasis we put on our relationship with our field staff, affectionately known as ‘Mashers’, and the resource we dedicate to ensuring that our community feels valued, supported and motivated to deliver the very best staffing solution in the UK.

We have built this business on a respect driven manifesto based on the following principles;
> Recruit only the best promotional staff in the market.
> Recruit based on charisma and personality rather than just looks.
> Train and support all staff.
> Reward excellence.
> Do not tolerate average.
> Open, honest communication at all times.
> Remain open and objective, listening to all perspectives.
> Performance manage from brand ambassadors through to event managers.
> Be open to constructive feedback.
> Assist in career development.

Our Senior Brand Champion Christiana Dobbie recently held a 3 day Recruitment Event at the Marriot Hotel in Central Birmingham and the results and quality of new ‘Mashers’ on board has been outstanding.

interview-6b

Whittling down 145 applications to 55 interview slots is hard enough but then ensuring that only the very best succeed and proceed to full Mash Registration is no easy challenge. We are delighted to welcome on board 40 new Mashers in the Midlands who all successfully completed a detailed application on Moogle and were then taken through a series of role plays, interactive learning sessions, fun quizzes, Q&A sessions and of course, the ‘Mash Manifesto’.

interview-1b

As well as all of this, our new Mashers have had to display passion, integrity, charisma and confidence as well as many more  traits from the very first application right through interview and will now carry these key values into the field for Mash.

We deliberately don’t make it easy to get on to the Mash books as we want to ensure we add value to the process from the very first moment you engage with us via Moogle.

Look out for more interview days coming in an area near you soon and remember; “You don’t get a second chance to make a first impression”.

Covering East Anglia and beyond..

Brand Champion for East Anglia :: David Stott

Brand Champion for East Anglia :: David Stott

Another ‘forgotten’ area of the UK is our dear East Anglia, Cambs Regions where we are delighted to have local boy David Stott spreading the Mash love to everywhere from Great Yarmouth to Northampton.

David joined Mash 3 years ago and rarely works for anyone else in the industry safe in the knowledge that Mash will generally provide the best campaigns with the best staff. The fact that these staff are often the result of his local recruitment days adds credence to his belief around the importance of getting it absolutely right at staff level.

David can be contacted via the Mash office to find out when and where the next Recruitment Day is happening and we urge you to get involved as soon as possible as we often get work in these areas.

Championing the Midlands…

christiana-1

Christiana has been on the Mash books since day dot and therefore has completed every type of assignment under the sun for the good of Mash and has very much moved up the ladders with Mash – more recently completing a host of complex Event Management roles as well as often assisting us here at Mash Towers

Chrissy’s personality lends itself very naturally to the obvious requirements of a Mash Brand Champion; charm, energy, passion, attention to quality and detail and with an eye for what really works in a staff member and in turn a campaign.

Chrussy juggles many balls and we’re delighted that she is our Ambassador for the Midlands area. Chrissy’s Recruitment days span Nottingham, Coventry, Birmingham depending on demand so give us a call to find out when she’s next interviewing in your area.

Our Flower of Scotland…

nikki-headshot

Brand Champion for Scotland :: Nikki Lindsay

Unbelievable as it may seem, a whole world of experiential marketing exists North of Watford in a far off ‘county’ called ‘Scotland’ and we can’t ask for a stronger ambassador for the Mash brand than Nikki Lindsay.

One of the many reasons Mash set up the Regional Recruitment model was to bring Mash closer to the people rather than existing purely in ‘far away London’ with regional campaigns being something of an after-thought. We are very proud of our local links to regional areas – Mash Campaign Managers have no option but to embrace Scotland – as they have a Talent Manager who is very proud of his homeland – to put it mildly.

Nikki has been working within the industry for many years and has completed plentiful Event Management projects for Mash and other agencies and always delivers with a real sense of dedication to the detail and cause.

Look out for her next Mash day coming soon!

And flying the Yorkshire flag for Mash…

May 13th, 2009   By   Filed Under: Brand Champions

Yorkshire Brand Champion :: Rowena Finn

Yorkshire Brand Champion :: Rowena Finn

We often talk of the opportunity to grow with Mash and Rowena is a classic example of someone who has forged a successful path with Mash.

Rowena responded to a Mash job advert on her University Careers Job Site, attended a group interview in Sheffield and went on to complete a variety of Brand Ambassador assignments. Her attention to detail and ability to take the lead were quickly spotted and she naturally fell into some challenging Team-Lead/Event Management roles which she completed with aplomb and professionalism.

Rowena is now our Brand Champion for Yorkshire and someone who completely understands the values associated with working for Mash and we’re delighted she is flying our flag.

Rowena herself sees the role’s imporance as “to assist MASH in reaching out to top class guys n gals and to get them to believe and deliver”

She’s not a politician but if she was, she’s confident that we would not be experiencing the current credit crunch…….

It’s positivity like that that sets our Brand Champions apart.
Look out for Rowena running a Yorkshire Recruitment Day near you soon

Our South-West Brand Champion..

South-West Brand Champion :: Tat Wa Lay

South-West Brand Champion :: Tat Wa Lay

Look out for Tat flying the Mash flag in a South-West location near you soon….here are his thoughts……

“Promotions excites me in the way that you are always working with fun and highly energetic people. It also gives you an excuse to get away from your hometown and experience life in different parts of the country.

My role as a Mash Brand Champion is to recruit people with positive attitudes towards life. I believe positivity will get you through anything, including working alone in a cold supermarket giving away flyers.

Tat is not a politician…but if he was…

School dinners would consist of sweet and sour chicken with egg fried rice. … maths lesson would be about working out tax returns, keeping out of debt and surviving a credit crunch

On Crime … all guns and knives in rap videos would be edited and replaced with feathers … convicted stalkers will have to wear a bright orange jumpsuit when going out in public and the media will only be able to report on good news

We’ll leave you with Tat’s philosophy on life..

“…a day without laughter is a day wasted”

We’ll toast to that Tat!
